Meet Lonnie Albright...


Background:  B
orn January 25, 1956 in Greensboro, North Carolina, Lonnie is the eldest of three sons of the late L.G. Albright, Jr. and Betty McAdoo Albright.  Growing up in Guilford Country, Lonnie worked on the farm and on his cousin's tobacco farm.  During high school and college, he worked at the Natural Science Center and Zoo.  There he enjoyed caring for many types of animals.  It was also at the Science Center where he operated the Planetarium programs on the weekends for several years and developed an interest in astronomy.
Family:  Lonnie has two children.  His son, R. Daniel Albright is currently a student at ECU.  His daughter, Julia M. Albright is a freshman at Appalachian State University.  His family ties are very strong.

Lonnie has two brothers, Clyde and David.  Clyde Albright is Assistant City Attorney for Greensboro, North Carolina and David Albright, an MBA, is a Tax Systems Analyst for Guilford County  as well as the Chief of the Guilford County Water Rescue Team, an agency of Guilford County Emergency Services.  Lonnie has other relatives in the legal profession which include Retired Superior Court Judge W. Douglas Albright, D. Erik Albright, and Superior Court Judge, R. Stuart Albright. 

Mr. Albright is interested in Genealogy.  It may be of interest to note that he has relatives who served in the American Revolution and in the Civil War.  His Great Grandfather, Daniel Albright, was Captain of the Guilford Home Guard during the Civil War.  Lonnie Albright's family ties to the community are deep.  He is a member of the Sons of America Revolution and Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Professional Memberships:  Lonnie Albright is a member of the Greensboro Bar Association, Greensboro Bar Association Family Law Section; Greensboro Criminal Defense Lawyer's Association; North Carolina Bar Association; North Carolina State Bar Association; National Rifle Association's (NRA) approved attorney on firearms laws; and certified Arbitrator by North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts.

Prior Employment Experience:  Lonnie Albright has been in the private practice of law for the past 19 years.  He has a general private practice and has handled matters at all levels of our State's Courts, civil, juvenile, and criminal.  At the Federal Court level, he has practiced before the United States District Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.  He is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Following his first year of law school, in the summer, Albright worked in the Public Defenders Office where he assisted attorneys in preparations to defend clients charged with crimes.  Following his second year of law school, Albright worked in the District Attorney's Office where he assisted former Assistant District Attorney Rick Greason in legal research on criminal prosecution.

Law Enforcement Background:  Prior to law school, Albright was a Deputy Sheriff with Guilford County Sheriff's Department.  While with the Sheriff's Department Albright worked as a patrol officer, responding to calls, serving warrants  and orders for arrest, and enforcing the law.  Albright also worked in the Detective Division, Vice Narcotics Section.  It was there he first met B.J. Barnes, who is currently Sheriff.  Albright also worked as a Crime Scene Investigator collecting evidence at the crime scenes, taking evidentiary photographs, homicide photographs, autopsy photographs, automobile fatality photography, analysis of items, collected, qualitative analysis of controlled substances, and fingerprint identification and collection.  Albright worked full time as a Deputy Sheriff from May 15, 1978 to July 31, 1982 and was Special Deputy or reserve officer from July 31, 1982 to September of 1986.
